AX2000 Proton Magnetometer (for marine)

Introduction

The main feature of the AX2000 is the very high contrast graphical display set behind an attractive front panel, plus an integral membrane key pad with a tactile response. Of the 20 keys 10 are numeric, 4 are arrowed and the remainder are dedicated function keys. The electronics are housed in an ABS plastic enclosure from the same family as the AQUASCAN MC5 magnetometer, thus providing a high level of environmental protection, and a gimbal mount for ease of removal or adjustment of the display angle. Selecting the operating mode and individual settings, is by a sequence of menus that are easily accessed and selected via the keypad. A high degree of automatic selection through the software routines is also incorporated, particularly for initial input tuning optimisation - at the local ambient magnetic field strength, additionally the scales can be set in either linear or logarithmic modes to enhance the presentation of information.

Applications

Survey
Fullest range of professional and commercial applications are served by the variety of options available in the AX2000 system :- including all types of archaeological and marine survey for anchors, cannon, cables, pipeline and general ferrous material.

Salvage
An essential tool for the professional salvor, providing an effective tool for the pinpointing of items for recovery - even when they have become deeply buried in silt and mud etc.

Diving
Offers a positive means of wreck location and in particular provides a powerful means to survey an extensive area of seabed when only an approximate position of a wreck is known . The magnetometer is the most successful tool in modern times for locating "virgin" wrecks.

Fishing
Wrecks abound with fish life, the AX2000 is the ideal tool for ease of relocating good wreck fishing marks and searching for new unfished wrecks, where the true potential to break existing fishing records exists.

System Description

The standard AX2000 is a microprocessor controlled instrument consisting of an electronic module together with a solenoid type sensor (towfish), 40M (130ft) of cable and a light weight storage drum. Lengths of cable upto 60M(200ft) can be supplied with the standard solenoid or 150M (500ft) with the optional high powered version. Both of the above sensors are contained in durable housings. For parts of the world where the earth's magnetic field has a reduced angle of inclination the aquascan toroid sensor is recommended.

The AX2000 functions as a graphical display magnetometer with continuous data recording by means of internal memory storage, digital printer or direct PC interface ( baud rates are selectable). Positional information derived from accurate navigation source can also be correlated with the magnetometer readings to provide a comprehensive survey log. The system is intended to be offered as a standard or professional version with optional features such as monitoring towfish depth, increased datalogging facilities and on screen position plotting.

MC5 Proton Magnetometer (for marine)

Introduction

The AQUASCAN MC5 has been developed from the highly successful WRECKFINDER MC4 to give a magnetometer with even better performance than the MC4, the design uses a more powerful microprocessor than the MC4, and introduces for the first time in our range of magnetometers the advanced turbo-polarise feature.
This means that the MC5 can now be operated on it's high sensitivity range with a polarise time of half a second. As any professional wreck hunter knows, the distance the magnetometer probe travels between measurements can mean the difference between success and failure when searching for small ferrous objects such as iron cannon. The half second polarise period of the MC5 cuts the distance travelled by the probe by more than half when compared to the MC4.
The MC5 has a range of interface capabilities to provide hardcopy results via a digital printer or chart recorder, in the case of the digital printer option a composite print can be achieved by utilising positional information from a navigation instrument, units of position are input via an NMEA interface port. An Additional software option outputs an ASCII sentence suitable for data-logging via the COMMS port of a PC.

Applications

Diving

Ideal tool for the location of all types of wreck and underwater ferrous structures. Allows very effective searching of large areas from the surface.

Fishing

For ease of re-locating good wreck fishing marks and searching for new unfished wrecks which abound in waters around many shores.

Survey

Unlimited applications in all types of archaeological wreck investigation, plus general marine survey for cable, pipelines and ferrous targets.

Salvage

An essential tool for the successful salvage operator in terms of cost effectiveness and efficient target location ahead of recovery operations.

Features

• 1 GAMMA RESOLUTION

• 0.5Sec POLARISATION

• GRADIOMETER RANGES

• HARDCOPY FACILITIES

• NAVIGATOR INTERFACING

• P C COMPATABILITY

• WEATHERPROOF UNIT

System Description

The MC5 INSTRUMENT comprises an electronic module together with a choice of Toroid & Solenoid sensors (towfish) plus optional cable lengths. The standard cable length supplied is 40M (130ft) stowed on a light-weight storage drum. Lengths of cable up to 60M(200ft) can be supplied with the standard Solenoid or 150M (500ft) with the optional high power Solenoid. Both of the above sensors are contained in durable plastic housings. For parts of the world (equatorial) where the earth's magnetic field has a reduced angle of inclination, the AQUASCAN Toroid sensor is recommended.
The MC5 is a multi control instrument with fully automatic setup. An AREA TUNE control is provided for optimising the signal strength received , this is used in conjunction with a signal strength meter. NB.area tuning is only done initially or when relocating to a new venue of some tens of miles or more distant. The microprocessor design features the following additional controls :- RANGE SETTING, POLARISE TIME , ALARM SET, AUDIO LEVEL & POWER ON-OFF. A large scale meter indicates measured deviation compared to an initial sample, this is displayed as a centre '0' reading. With the RANGE switch set to X1 the magnetometer is at it's most sensitive, giving a scale of -50 to +50 gamma (Nt).
The MC5 system is offered with a range of plug in software options that include digital printer and PC compatibility. This when combined with the NMEA input facility, allows magnetic reading to be correlated and recorded with boat position. Where a PC is available during he course of survey operations, results can be logged, filed and subsequently filtered , processed and revieved.

AQ1B Aquapulse Underwater Metal Detector

Introduction

AQUAPULSE metal detectors have featured in every conceivable underwater application around the world in the past decade with an exceptional degree of success.
The AQUAPULSE 1B (38cm) is an underwater metal detector employing a large diameter search head mounted on the end of a telescopic arm. The 1B can detect objects up to a range of 3m (10ft). This makes it the most powerful unit on the market. Apart from the sensitivity threshold control, the 1B detector has an additional control to enable the whole range of AQUAPULSE coils to be used with it. The same control can be used to reject surface clutter such as ring pulls, cigarette foil etc., often found buried in the sand or mud. The internal "Ni-Cad" battery pack allows in the order of 10 hours operation.

Land proton magnetometer CZM-2 (for land)

The proton precession magnetometer, manufactured on the basis of the principle of making use of hydrogen proton magnetic moment, under certain condition, processing freely in geomagnetic field, is a sort of magnetic instrument capable of measuring absolute value of total magnetic intensity of the earth.

One of the major instruments in ground magnetic exploration, it is widely adopted in the exploration of iron ore and metal ore deposits ground follow-up, geological mapping and in the diurnal magnetic correction for airborne and shipboard magnetic surveys as well. It can also be used in geomagnetic station for magnetic variation observations in the prediction of earthquake, mobile magnetic survey and detection of small ferromagnetic objects, and is adaptable, in particular, in weak magnetic work areas.

Using integrated circuit and being program controlled, the proton precession magnetometer is characterized by small volume, light weight, digital representation, high precision, broad measuring range, good anti-disturbance ability, less power consumption, easy operation, convenient reading, compact structure, stable and reliable performance, etc.
